American Style

American Style

There’s a new horse at the barn, and he’s a pretty special guy. Narrowly escaping death as the decision to put him down had been made for the next day as there was no solid interest in him, due to him needing an expensive surgery ($3850) to fix a right hind fractured fetlock followed by 5 months of layup. Luckily for this special guy, American StyleThe Dolly Green Foundation donated funds for his surgery and After the Finish Line will be funding his lay up cost for 5 months! He is now with us at Equine Racers for his layup and aftercare from his surgery and for re-training to find a forever home once he’s cleared to start work again. Isn’t he a doll? Just look at that face!

American Style

American Style is a 2011 Thoroughbred Gelding standing at 16.3 hands high. He was unplaced in 4 starts during his racing career. This incredibly well bred son of Papa Clem out of a Swiss Yodeler mare has major sporthorse and class breeding. American Style retired from racing due to a right hind fractured fetlock. He is looking to start another career as a dressage or as a hunter/jumper horse once he is sound again, hopefully this summer. His prognosis is very good for a full recovery after his surgery.

This boy is such a sweetheart. Extra money is still needed though for his routine vet care, farrier, and extra feed for him! If you would like to donate you may via PayPal to equineracers@aol.com subject American Style, all donations are tax deductible!

American StyleMy first visit with American Style. He was so curious, he couldn’t stand still long enough for me to get a clear shot of him! He wanted to leave his stall to go check out everything. Silly guy, but oh so sweet!

A Cure for the Monday Morning Blues: Horsing Around with Torero & Purple.

A Cure for the Monday Morning Blues: Horsing Around with Torero & Purple

By Erin

After the crazy heat this week, it was nice to relax a little bit with the horses in these “cooler” 80 degree temperatures over the weekend. They were just as happy as we were for a break from the nasty  100+ degree heat. Especially Purple as the heat made him very sick this past week and he has lost a lot of weight very quickly from it; he didn’t do well with the heat at all. Thankfully it has cooled down and he is getting back to his normal self and eating like a pig again. Now they are all playing, horsing around and back to their silly goofy selves. Torero really thinks he is something special (but I think I’d have to agree with him on that one). Is he funny enough to help cure those Monday Morning blues? What do you think?  😉

Top Torero attempting to be serious.

This is the REAL Torero though…. 😉 Signature  move: his tongue hanging out. He’s so silly.

Top Torero

He’s got a lot of personality! So fun to watch these guys.

Jumping Around at the Barn

Jumping Around at the Barn

By Erin

Summer is just around the corner and these long summer days are really nice to get some jumping fun in. It’s a great time to get some training in and get ready for the show season ahead. A few of the horses are just learning how to jump and are coming along very nicely. You can tell that they really enjoy this change of pace from the usual just hacking around the barn. I am enjoying having a horse to be able to jump around a little bit on too, as I haven’t gotten to do much of it lately!

Purple Slurple

Purple jumping his first oxer (the red and grey jump) and his first time over the rock wall! He did great! Don’t mind my position… I’m rusty and he’s just learning, so we’re both getting used to these jumps! 🙂

Jumping Around On Every Last Detail

Every Last Detail AKA, Big jumping the brick wall. Big is looking good here! He’s such a pro!
