The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California is now offering a magical DreamWorks Trolls Afternoon Tea every Sunday in July!
Erin invited me and my four-year-old daughter to attend the media preview for her blog, and we had a truly lovely mother-daughter outing. We tasted delicious sweet and savory treats, sipped tea, chatted with friends, and even met Queen Poppy, star of the DreamWorks animated series “Trolls: The Beat Goes On!” on Netflix!
Held in the Langham’s elegant Lobby Lounge, little “Trolls” fans—or kids who enjoy tea parties—are sure to love the experience. The colorful themed menu was created just for children, with each child receiving a plate filled with ham, turkey, and peanut butter and jelly mini sandwiches, meringue tarts, cupcakes, donuts, and Queen Poppy & Branch friendship cookies. They can also choose from a variety of refreshing beverages, like pink lemonade, milk, and a selection of fruit-infused, caffeine-free teas.

Children will also receive an activity sheet, a DreamWorks Trolls Hair Hugger toy to take home, and a meet-and-greet and photo op with a “Trolls” character. (My daughter LOVED meeting Poppy, and every time the troll queen re-entered the lounge she would run over to hug her. It was so sweet!) The lounge is enhanced by Trolls-themed decor and large screens playing scenes from “Trolls: The Beat Goes On!” at a quiet volume. Little guests are encouraged to wear their most colorful outfits—fun hairstyles and bright wigs optional.

There’s plenty for grown-ups to appreciate about the afternoon tea as well. The Lobby Lounge is the perfect setting for a fancy tea party, with polished decor and gorgeous views of the hotel’s sprawling lawn. Savory sandwiches and sweet treats catering to sophisticated palates are served on beautiful Wedgewood settings, with a several teas on offer, as well as sparkling wine for adults ages 21 and over. Because of the playful theme and the presence of excited kids, the tea feels far from stuffy, and guests of all ages were having a great time eating, chatting, and posing for fun photos. Personally, I adored the experience and want to take my daughter back again!
After the tea we were able to explore the areas of the hotel that were open to the public. My daughter had a blast running around the hotel’s huge back lawn, checking out the pretty lobby courtyard, which features a small bridge, fountain, and pond, and marching up and down the hallways. The Langham Huntington is a stunning historic hotel, and we were thrilled to get to spend the afternoon in such a beautiful place…and go home with some delicious leftovers in The Langham’s signature pink box!
