Wordless Wednesday: Meet Parker!

Wordless Wednesday: Meet Parker!

By Erin

There’s a gorgeous new horse at the barn. We don’t know much about him, but he sure is a sweet, kind-hearted guy. From what we can gather, he’s about 8-9 years old and a Quarter Horse (NOT a Thoroughbred!), but that’s about it. We have no clue what his registered name is or what his racing history is as we cannot figure out what his tattoo that all racing horses have, is. Hours have been spent trying to figure it out to no avail. He has been named Parker. You will also notice that he is a GREY horse and not a BAY (brown with a black mane and tail), like most of the horses that get taken in are. šŸ˜‰ This boy isn’t up for adoption yet, so he will be here for a little while longer. For some that are up for adoption, check out Equine Racers, which is the 501C3 Registered Non Profit Horse Rescue Organization I help out at with my friend Sarah who runs it, and that most of these horses I post about are from.Ā I hope you enjoy this mysterious beast as much as I have so far! šŸ™‚

Summertime with the Horses and an American Style Update

Summertime with the Horses and an American Style Update

By Erin

One reason I love the summer so much, is because it means I can spend more time at the barn with the horses. It’s also been awhile since I’ve been able to give an update on all the boys, so I thought I’d take a minute and let you all know how everyone is doing. šŸ™‚

If you rememberĀ American Style, from back in February, he had retired from racing with a left hind Condylar fracture, and had surgery performed on January 23rd, 2015. He has recovered nicely and is ready to start-up training to become a riding horse.

Styles 1st ride!

Styles did amazing on his first ride with Sarah! He doesn’t steer very well yet, but that’s to be expected with such a green horse with no training yet. He stood so still while Sarah mounted to get on him, and he looks like he flexes and bends well. It will be exciting to watch him as he starts to learn to jump. He has started to go over ground-poles so far!

Horsing Around at the Barn #Horses

Horsing Around at the Barn

By Erin

This week, I thought I’d give a little update on all the horses. The boys are all doing well, especially Chup with his training as a jumper! Come join us at the barn and see how Big, Blaze, Brady, Style and Chup like to ‘Horse Around!’ šŸ˜‰

Styles

American Style– Aka Styles, is still in rehab and confined to his stall from his surgery back in late January. He no longer has his leg all wrapped up though. He’s doing well, but still has a long way to go. He’s happy, but he sure can be a monster! I’m sure he can’t wait to be able to get out and run and play around like the other boys do again!

Blazing-Horses

Blaze is a sweet boy. He loves hanging out in the turn out and going on short rides with me. šŸ™‚ I think he also likes posing for the camera!
