Camp Spooky

The other weekend I was able to treat my good friend and her daughter, who was getting ready to celebrate her 7th birthday, to some Camp Spooky fun! Kids can dress up for this, special occasion, so which will it be? Pirate, witch, Snoopy, or my personal favorite, a cowboy? ;). This is a daytime, non-scare celebration, filled with cheer rather than fear, with halloween themed shows, activities and of course, a costume contest that’s all created with children in mind, ages 3-11. Let’s take a look at some of the spooky fun!

CampSpooky Potion Parlour

Kids of all ages can explore their spooky side at the “Potion Parlour,” which is a fun Kool-Aid mixing station where kids use witches cauldrons to create their special potions, and then pour them into test tubes to create “Friendship Potions” and other fun potions. *A small additional fee is required for this experience.*

CS Potions

Here’s the fun potion that Chey made! It’s her “Power Potion” that she said was a Vampire Potion to keep the vampires away. 😉

Snoopys Costume Parade

Kids can take part in “Snoopy’s Costume Party and Parade” and also visit the Camp Spooky Theatre to view Charlie Brown’s new Halloween show where everyone will be singing and dancing in the aisles to all their favorite Halloween tunes. All participants receive a ribbon like the one Chey got here! Some lucky ghouls and goblins will receive special prizes handed out by the Peanuts Gang too! Look who Snoopy chose in the middle! 😉

Million Dollar Arm: A Story Filled With Dreams, Second Chances, and More.

Million Dollar Arm: Dreams, Second Chances, & More.

By Erin

*I attended a media/press junket for the purposes of this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

When I first heard about the movie, Million Dollar Arm, I didn’t know what to think or expect. Another baseball film based on a true story…. ok… Oh!! Jon Hamm is in it? Sure! I’ll go see it! I was pleasantly surprised and blown away by this film. It is not just another sports movie. It is also about relationships, family, second chances, and making dreams come true. Now, come with me to Beverly Hills and let’s see what the stars of the show had to say about Million Dollar Arm. In attendance was Jon Hamm (“JB Bernstein”), Lake Bell (“Brenda Paauwe”), the real JB Bernstein, the real Rinku Singh, Joe Roth (Producer) and Gordon Gray (Producer).

Million Dollar Arm

First we chatted with the producers of the film. When discussing about how it is more than just a sports movie Gordon Gray had this to say.

Gordon Gray: I mean for us this is a movie really about JB as a fish out of water going to India with his crazy scheme, leaving a single guy, a bachelor having a fun life and then through the evolution of this development with the players, becoming a surrogate father and ultimately opening up his heart to find love and marriage.

Joe Roth was asked what attracted him to this project.

Joe Roth: Everything attracted me to this project. And I love the second chance stories and I love fish-out-of-water stories and I, I love the idea that I’m sitting in a movie theater and I’m thinking wow if these two guys can accomplish that, I can get up out of here when the lights get on and I can accomplish almost anything.

LA County Fair: It’s Fair Time! Fair, Food, & Fun! + Ticket Giveaway

LA County Fair: It’s Fair Time! Fair, Food, & Fun! + Ticket Giveaway

By: Erin

Disclosure: I was invited out to the Media Food Preview Night at the LA County Fair and I was provided with a 4 pack of tickets with a parking pass to the LA County Fair. All opinions are my own and I’ve been going to this fair for as long as I can remember. 😉

It’s that time of year again folks, and you know what that means! It’s time for the LA County Fair. All the rides, games, shows, concerts,  new animal exhibits and of course one of the main attractions, the FOOD!! Every year, the food is a huge draw at the fair, and as usual will not disappoint .  You will see the oh so familiar fried food fare from longtime fair favorites such as Chicken Charlie’s, but the fair does have some Gluten-Free options, one of my personal favorites; Terri’s Berries and then there is the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Marketplace. The Fair started last Friday, August 30th and will run through September 29th. This past Wednesday I was invited out to a food preview for a sneak peek of what’s in store for this year’s UN-LEASH Your Inner Fair at the LA County Fair!

This year the fair has been turned into “Calitopia,” where you can keep cool with underwater and animal adventures like those found in San Diego, animation workshops and Enterprise exhibits from Hollywood as well as wine tasting experiences straight from Napa Valley.

FairFoodFun

NOW! Onto the Food and Giveaway that you are probably here for. 😉 You can find these food vendors while out and about at the fair this year as well as many others.

The FOOD!!

1. Chicken Charlie’s

Chicken CharliesHow about we start out with some deep fried fair food fun? Be the first to try out the new Krispy Kreme Hamburger ($9.95), the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joes ($7.75), Totally Fried Bacon Wrapped Pickles ($6.75), Waffle Dogs, and if you want something on the lighter side, they do have chicken kabobs. Don’t forget dessert! They also have the Totally Fried Twinkie that you can get with either chocolate or strawberry sauce drizzled on top.

Chicken CharlieChicken Charlie himself was there, so I just had to stop and get a picture taken with this famous fair icon. 🙂

LACountyFAIRMy favorites would have to be the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe and the Bacon wrapped pickles! Yum!
