Slater’s 50/50 Now OPEN in Rancho Cucamonga!

By: Erin

It’s the 4th of July and what could be more American than burgers and bacon? Well boy oh  boy do I have a real treat for you then! I received an invite via email to attend an event that occurred last week at the Slater’s 50/50 Rancho Cucamonga restaurant to come see the new place before its Grand Opening on July 1st and to try out the New Slater’s 50/50 Menu items that were being released July 1st, 2013.  I was very excited for this as I am a HUGE Slater’s fan. I love my bacon!! It is a real special treat. Slater’s is famous for their 50/50 Burgers– which are 50% ground bacon and 50% ground beef.

Here’s a peek into what the new location at Rancho Cucamonga looks like! It’s a beautiful place isn’t it? I loved the layout and with just over 100 beers on tap, that’s my kind of place! At Slater’s it is all about the bacon!!  Almost every item at this restaurant can be ordered with bacon…they even have bacon brownies and bacon milkshakes! We were introduced to THE Scott Slater of Slater’s 50/50 along with Executive Chef Brad Lyons as we started off the evening.

Slater's 50/50

We first started off with the Sweet Potato Fries with an amazing pumpkin sauce ($4.95) followed by the Slater’s Vampire Dip ($8.95). The fries were wonderfully sweet and crispy and I think I could have dipped everything we had in this pumpkin sauce, I loved it so much. The Vampire Dip is roasted garlic, cheese and artichoke dip served in a sourdough bread bowl with fried pita chips. Be prepared for some super gooey cheesiness heaven. It may get a bit messy with the cheese, but it is so worth it.

Veggie Grill: Taste and Believe

Veggie Grill: Taste & Believe

By: Erin

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. I was invited out to try some of their new summer items as well as some of their favorites! All thoughts and opinions remain my own and I have enjoyed coming here ever since I found out about this place last summer! 🙂

I am not a vegetarian by any means. I do LOVE a good steak or other well prepared piece of meat. In my attempt to eat healthier and fresher foods and finding alternatives to your typical unhealthy fast food joints, I found this place. Veggie Grill! They have locations throughout Southern California, Northern California, Oregon, and Washington. Veggie Grill serves  food you can feel good about. They are proudly committed to serving 100% plant-based food. No matter what you enjoy at Veggie Grill, you can be assured that your food has no meat, dairy, eggs, cholesterol, animal fat or trans fat in it. It’s so good, that you’d never know it was vegetarian. 😉

Veggie Grill

I arrived at the Veggie Grill in Hollywood at The Dome on Sunset. I was pretty hungry as we had just walked over from the El Capitan after seeing a preview of the new Monsters University movie. I loved how clean, fresh, and modern the place looked. It is very open and airy.

Veggie Drinks

After putting our order in, which was gladly taken by John O’ Neil, the general manager at this location, we went to get some drinks. We were given some great suggestions on things to try by him and we were not disappointed in the slightest. Everything that was recommended to us was spot on and left us craving more. Sometimes I like to come here just for their teas and lemonade! You will NOT find any carbonated beverages here, which is one thing I truly like about this place! Be sure to try out their ginger hibiscus tea, it is amazing. Perfect for these hot summer days to cool you down.

Eat. Live. Love. At the Olive Pit Grill!

Eat. Live. Love. At the Olive Pit Grill!

By Erin

If you love a good Mediterranean/Greek meal, have I found the place for you! Nestled off of Bolsa Chica Street in Huntington Beach (they also have a location in Brea, CA as well) there is a true hidden gem,  the Olive Pit Grill .  This place is a tasty delight for your taste buds. The best part is how fresh the food is and that it is all homemade in-house, which shows in the quality and flavor of every bite. The prices can’t be beat either! We were invited out to try many of their delectable items that they have to offer. I must say, I have been back a handful of times already as I can’t get enough of the stuff! 🙂

Their slogan is Eat. Live. Love. It is very evident as when you are here, you are like family, everyone is so warm and friendly. You definitely eat well here. The love and passion for the food can be seen in  everything as well, as everything is homemade daily and made from scratch! You will find many items here that are NOT on their regular menu. They offer many specialty items you will want to check out and try out for yourself! So make sure to ask about them the next time you go!

The first thing we tried was the Frappe “Greek Style” Ice Coffee ($2.25) and the Three Dip Combo ($8.85) which comes with three homemade dips and pita bread. For ours we had the Spicy Cheese, Hummus, & Melitzanosalata (eggplant) dips.

Olive Pit Grill

The Ice Coffee was amazing, mine didn’t last long. It was just sweet, smooth, and Frappe enough for my liking. The pita bread was extremely warm, soft and fresh out of the oven! It was tempting to just fill up on the pita bread alone the dips were all so flavorful and tasty!
