Horsing Around at the Barn #Horses

Horsing Around at the Barn

By Erin

This week, I thought I’d give a little update on all the horses. The boys are all doing well, especially Chup with his training as a jumper! Come join us at the barn and see how Big, Blaze, Brady, Style and Chup like to ‘Horse Around!’ 😉

Styles

American Style– Aka Styles, is still in rehab and confined to his stall from his surgery back in late January. He no longer has his leg all wrapped up though. He’s doing well, but still has a long way to go. He’s happy, but he sure can be a monster! I’m sure he can’t wait to be able to get out and run and play around like the other boys do again!

Blazing-Horses

Blaze is a sweet boy. He loves hanging out in the turn out and going on short rides with me. 🙂 I think he also likes posing for the camera!

Blaze-Turn-Out

Blaze being a ham. I love how he has his forelock parted to the side! lol Silly horse.

Wordless Wednesday: Majestic Lusitano Stallions

Wordless Wednesday: Majestic Lusitano Stallions

By Erin

There are some pretty gorgeous Lusitano stallions at the barn where the horses are kept at. My friend Cat at the barn captured some amazing shots of these very animated guys! Take a look! 😉

A little bit of history on this breed; the Lusitano is a Portuguese horse breed, closely related to the Spanish Andalusian horse. Often times called Iberian horses because the breeds were developed on the Iberian peninsula, until the 1960s they were considered one breed, under the Andalusian name. The Lusitano has been developed to be a horse that is useful for war, dressage and bull fighting. In 1966, Portuguese and Spanish stud books split, and the Portuguese strain of the Iberian horse was named the Lusitano. The guys pictured here are used as bull fighting horses.

What do you think? Some pretty handsome fellas aren’t they? 😉

Jumping Around at the Barn

Jumping Around at the Barn

By Erin

Summer is just around the corner and these long summer days are really nice to get some jumping fun in. It’s a great time to get some training in and get ready for the show season ahead. A few of the horses are just learning how to jump and are coming along very nicely. You can tell that they really enjoy this change of pace from the usual just hacking around the barn. I am enjoying having a horse to be able to jump around a little bit on too, as I haven’t gotten to do much of it lately!

Purple Slurple

Purple jumping his first oxer (the red and grey jump) and his first time over the rock wall! He did great! Don’t mind my position… I’m rusty and he’s just learning, so we’re both getting used to these jumps! 🙂

Jumping Around On Every Last Detail

Every Last Detail AKA, Big jumping the brick wall. Big is looking good here! He’s such a pro!
