Find the Ninja within ya. The LEGO NINJAGO Movie arrives in theaters September 22! This new animated adventure in the Warner Bros. Pictures’ LEGO® franchise features an all-star ensemble that includes Dave Franco, Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods, and the legendary Jackie Chan. Rated PG (for some mild action and rude humor). We got the chance to screen the film and meet with the cast at the press junket for the film to share with you a little more about the film as well as some cool tid-bits that the cast shared with us.

In this big-screen NINJAGO adventure, the battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu.

Taking place in the Japanese city of NINJAGO, located on NINJAGO Island, we watch as residents wake up each morning watching “Good Morning NINJAGO” with LEGO Michael Strahan and LEGO Robin Roberts. NINJAGO is attacked almost daily by the four-armed megalomaniac Garmadon (Justin Theroux) who lives in an active volcano not far off the shore of NINJAGO. The masked teenage ninjas come to save the day every time who battle in intricate mechanical warcraft that is sure to wow kids.

The story touches on themes and values that have become the hallmark of these films. It’s about family and self-discovery as we see the conflict between the young ninja Lloyd and his father, Garmadon who is constantly trying to destroy the city Lloyd lives in. You can see Lloyd’s desire for the love and approval from his father, the feeling that he missed out on having a father in his life. Through their adventure, they tackle many obstacles that are bigger than the both of them which forces them to deal with one another, which ends up requiring a process of discovery for each of them.

So what did the cast and producers have to share with us? Here is some of the highlights.

Dan Lin spoke a little bit about how all the LEGO movies are different.

Dan Lin:  So, every one of our LEGO movies looks different. LEGO Batman was a little darker. This one’s probably our brightest, most beautiful movie yet, and we’ve incorporated lots of natural elements into it. In the LEGO movie you saw water is made out of bricks. Here we’ll see real water, real smoke, real fire, real trees and plants, so it’s really beautiful to see LEGO mixed with Mother Nature.

Chan was asked what advice he would give to future kung fu artists and karate artists.

Jackie Chan:  Just practice. You don’t have to practice to knock somebody down, just quick. Martial arts is like exercise; good for your brain, good for your health, good for your everything. When you know martial arts, you respect everybody, your parents, your teacher, and the nature, the whole world.  I think martial art is kind of like a good exercise sport.

What was Chan’s favorite line from the movie?

Brick-or-Treat Party Nights at LEGOLAND!

Brick-or-Treat Party Nights at LEGOLAND!

The world of Legos comes to life at LEGOLAND in Carlsbad California.  With hilarious shows and exciting attractions and rides there is plenty to do for the entire family. LEGOLAND  is hosting its annual Brick-or-Treat party nights.  This night time special event takes place on select evenings through the month of October.  Guest (both big and small) can dress in costume and “Brick-or-treat” at stations throughout the Park, dance the night away, and show off their costumes at the annual Costume Contest.  There are new additions to the spooktacular festivities.  The Coast Cruise transforms into the spooky Ghost Cruise with new hauntings.  Win Brick-or-Treat inspired Pop badges by completing fun filled activities throughout the park. There is so much  to do for everyone.

When you first enter the park you want to make sure you head over to the wrist band distribution station to get your Brick-or-Treat wrist band.  After you get your wrist band you can start exploring the park.

There are 12 treat stations set up throughout the park.  From magazines to candy, each treat station hands out a variety of treats.  Some of the treats are healthy snacks.  Don’t worry if you forget to bring treat bags.  Treat bags are provided for you.

As you make your way to each treat station there are spooky funny characters walking throughout the park some as tall as 12ft tall.  The decorations of skeletons, ghost, and pumpkins are all fun to see.  Of course it wouldn’t be Brick-or Treat without some Lego inspired decorations.  Along your way you might run into a Fortune Teller Both with a real Fortune Teller inside or a troll who is incredibly funny.

One of my favorite things is to see are all the different costumes.  The annual costume contest is held at Miniland Stage in Miniland.  There are three categories Group, LEGO Theme, and Most Creative.  There is also dancing and shows at this stage. Also be sure you don’t miss the Curse of the Hallowmeanie! There’s a spooky Halloween spirit haunting the castle!  Or maybe its just Jester Funnybones, back from the grave with a sneaky plan up his skeleton sleeve?  Get ready for kooky costumes, crazy characters and slapstick fun in this all new Brick-or-Treat show!

LEGOLAND! Holiday Snow Days & Winter Nights

By Penny from On the Go OC!

*We received media tickets to attend the Holiday Snow Days at Legoland*

It was a Snow Day kind of day today! We packed up some jackets and headed south to Legoland in Carlsbad.

We were able to cover Holiday Snow Days for Erin and experience all the fun that LEGOLAND CA is bringing to winter on sunny SoCal!

What I love the most about Legoland is that my whole family can enjoy everything from food to rides.

The Holidays bring out all the festivities. Our top 5 faves per my 8 year old:

Snow-Play-Snow-Man-Legoland-Carlsbad

* Snow Play* – The kids loved to play in the snow with their friends. There was plenty of room to celebrate the winter fun with Snow Man building, and he was a huge one! Throwing snow balls at a festive wall was also a lot of fun. They were able to sled as much as they wanted to. There was plenty of room to play for the kids and adults and there was also a snow ball launching area to aim at targets. So much fun for everyone to play with snow in the warm sun!

Heartlake-City-Legoland

* HeartLake City*– Always a favorite to visit. The Holiday show was just amazing. The kids sang along and danced while the Lego Friends came together in a special Winter treat of song and dance and of course friendship!

* Christmas Tree Lighting and Music* – Jenna Elfman did a wonderful job and the live music was magical. The lighting was beautiful and was accompanied with fireworks and snowfall! Everyone really loved the surprises that made the tree lighting so perfect.

Legoland-Christmastree-Lighting-Fireworks

* Fireworks* – This was a pleasant surprise for everyone! The winter night sky was lit up with fireworks to celebrate the Tree lighting ceremony! It was the perfect end to the night!

Lego-Santa

* Santa and Lego Santa* – Did you know that Lego Santa is on the grounds!? He is so cute and just adorable. Make sure you catch him and get a hug!
