Stuff Yourself With Nancy’s Pizza

By Erin

*Disclosure: I received a gift card to make a trip to Nancy’s to try out some of this deliciousness. All thoughts and opinions remain my own. Gift card for giveaway to be fulfilled by sponsor.*

Pizza lovers everywhere are going to want to devour some of this greatness at the newest pizza joint that has landed itself in Southern California. Originating in Chicago, Illinois in 1971, Nancy’s Pizza is now serving up some piping hot and delicious pizza here in Alhambra, California. Nancy’s is a fast-casual type restaurant where you order your food at the register, then find a seat and they will bring your order to you. You can also order for take out, and enjoy your meal at home.

Nancys Pizza Boxes

Famous for their stuffed pizzas, that were inspired in Italy and perfected in America, Rocco and Nancy invented the stuffed pizza in 1971. Today, Nancy’s will have you wanting to stuff yourself full with some of this ooey, gooey, deliciousness. If you want something on the healthier side, they do have some great tasting salads as well.

 Stuffed Pizzas

Nancy's Pizza

Being that the stuffed pizza is their trademark pizza, I just had to try this. Weighing in at 5 pounds for a 12 inch pizza and 2 1/2 inches high, it truly is a sight to see (and smell and taste)!  Stuffed full of fresh ingredients. I tried mine with Pepperoni and Sausage.

NANCYS STUFFED PIZZA

*I must note that the service here was amazing. When one of the girls was coming to our table to bring us our pasta, she was apologizing profusely that she had dropped our pizza and was going to make us a new one, but she was making us a medium sized one instead of the small one we had ordered. As we still had our salad and pasta to enjoy, we were in no rush to get our pizza right away anyways, so it was no big deal to us at all. However she kept apologizing and the upgrade to a medium sized pizza was a nice gesture. Not that we even needed it or expected that, it would just mean more leftovers to take home and enjoy later we figured. The staff did not know that I was a blogger here to review their restaurant, and I did not announce that fact at any time when we were there as I prefer whenever possible to get a true feel and experience of what a place is like as a regular diner coming in.*

Salads

Nancy’s has quite a few different kinds of salads to choose from if you are looking for a healthier option, or just something to go with and compliment your pizza. They come in either a small size or large size. The large size is served in a bread bowl.

Nancy's Garbage Salad Pictured above is the ‘Garbage Salad,’ which consists of lettuce, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, mozzarella cheese, black and green olives, mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Pretty much it’s a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but I liked it. This is the small size. My friend and I split this, so it’s plenty for two if you are going to be getting a pizza to go along with your meal.

Pasta

Nancy’s has a pretty decent selection of pastas to choose from if that’s more your thing. I love pasta, so we had to try one of the dishes.

Nancys Pasta

The Tuscan Rigatoni turned out to really hit the spot. Rigatoni pasta tossed in a pink cream sauce with fresh garlic, sautéed Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms and parsley. I’m really picky about my pasta, but I approve of this one. 🙂 The pasta dishes come in “For One” and “For Two” sizes. This is the “For One” size, and was more than enough for my friend and I (considering we also had the salad and the pizza).

Shine On With The Color Run!

By Erin

*Disclosure: I was offered complementary passes to The Color Run in my city, however I have always been a fan and supporter of The Color Run. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

The Color Run

There’s a colorful, shiny, glittery event full of happiness coming to town that you won’t want to miss, The Color Run Shine Tour 2015. Not all that long ago, my good friend Melody and I decided to run in one to celebrate our birthdays as our birthdays are one day apart (Mine is May 3rd, hers is May 4th). We were birthday princesses, so of course we had to wear our tiaras. 😉  I love anything with a little bling, and if it’s something to get me outdoors and moving, then that’s even better! 😉

Wether you prefer to walk or run, The Color Run is bringing the community together to participate in the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”.  As the original paint race, they have created a completely new genre of running events that continues to grow exponentially. It is the single largest event series in the world, The Color Run has exploded with more than just color; with 300 events in 50+ countries in 2014.

So WHY should you enter?

Shaking It Up at the Hard Rock Cafe

Shaking It Up at the Hard Rock Cafe

*I was unable to attend this awesome event over at the Hard Rock Cafe as I was on a media trip, so my girl Mary over at Along Comes Mary, graciously was able to cover it and report back to us! Thanks Mary!*

By Mary Lansing

(*Disclosure: I was The Hard Rock Cafe’s guest in place of Erin Miller. All opinions are my own & thanks to HRC & Erin for having me!)

Have you ever been to The Hard Rock Cafe? As someone who is both a LA native & self-proclaimed music lover, I am a little surprised that I have only recently begun going to this awesome restaurant. Each location has its own special touch; whether its Michael Jackson’s fedora at Hollywood Boulevard, a dress worn by Courtney Love in Las Vegas, or a famous ZZ Top car smack in the middle of the bar at Universal City Walk’s, they give each spot its own flavor!

Thanks to Erin, I headed out recently to The Hard Rock at Universal Studios City Walk for an amazing night showcasing their new, eclectic SHAKE IT UP private bartending classes. Perfect for a birthday party, bachelorette or bachelor night, or simply a fun way to gather up all your friends, these private group classes invite you & your guests to be one on one with some of HRC’s best bartenders, literally teaching you how to make your own concoctions…& oh yeah, keep ’em to drink following! 😉

Hard Rock Cafe

For your soiree, you’re reserved the entire upstairs loft overlooking the hustle & bustle below your eyes at The City Walk’s location. Outside, you can relax & people watch all visiting the outdoor promenade. We were shortly after introduced to “Moose” & Rob. 2 of HRC’s star bartenders, who couldn’t have been more fun to show us the ropes as we attempted to make a Gin Martini, Vodka Martini, Margarita & HRC’s infamous “Hurricane” drink.

2014-10-22 10.41.58

How did I do? Well, lets just say that I won’t be applying to work at Hard Rock anytime soon! But, it was extremely fun to learn just what goes into your favorite drinks; while my vodka martini was much too strong, the guys do step in to make ones to show you how they should taste; so, you’re guaranteed to have a well made drink if you’re not a pro yet 😉 As a margarita lover, it was interesting to learn just how true & pure HRC makes theirs; I had some in Las Vegas & thought they were the best I’d had in a long time, now I understand why. It’s all about a good quality mix, fresh lime juice & the best tequila they have.
