Prepare for adventure when “SCOOB!” arrives on 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on July 21st! Scooby and the gang face their most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this dogpocalypse, the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined. I watched Scooby-Doo as a child, so I am EXTRA excited to take SCOOB! home to watch over and over again!

SCOOB!

“SCOOB!” reveals the never-before-told story of Scooby’s origins. It shows how one of history’s most famous friendships began when an adorable, homeless puppy met a lonesome young boy named Shaggy, and how the two of them joined forces with aspiring young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to become the celebrated Mystery Inc.  Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face the biggest and most challenging mystery of their careers: a plot that will unleash the legendary ghost dog Cerberus upon the world.

“SCOOB!” features an all-star ensemble cast led by Will Forte, two-time Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs, Gina Rodriguez, Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried, Kiersey Clemons, Ken Jeong, Tracy Morgan, Simon Cowell, and Frank Welker.

It was directed by Warner Bros. animation stalwart Tony Cervone, an Annie Award nominee for the feature film “Space Jam,” two-time Emmy nominee for his work on “Duck Dodgers” and one of the creators of the popular Scooby-Doo series “Mystery Incorporated.”

The film was produced by Pam Coats and Allison Abbate.  Adam Sztykiel, Charles Roven, Richard Suckle, Jesse Ehrman, Dan Povenmire, and Chris Columbus served as executive producers.  The “SCOOB!” screenplay is by Adam Sztykiel and Jack C. Donaldson & Derek Elliott and Matt Lieberman, story by Matt Lieberman and Eyal Podell & Jonathon E. Stewart, based on characters created by Hanna-Barbera Productions. Cervone’s creative team included editors Ryan Folsey and Vanara Taing, and composer Tom Holkenborg.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “SCOOB!” will feature HDR10+TM, HDR technology that optimizes brightness levels and contrast for each scene, making bright areas brighter and dark areas darker to deliver a lifelike viewing experience.

The 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray and DVD versions of “SCOOB!” will all include a Digital copy of the film.

Frozen 2 Digital/Blu-ray Release Celebration at Walt Disney Animation Studios

Frozen 2 Celebration

By Melanie Gable

*I attended the “Frozen 2” home entertainment press day at Walt Disney Animation Studios for the purposes of this article. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA recently opened its doors to press, bloggers, and content creators to celebrate the in-home release of “Frozen 2,” which will be available on digital February 11 and 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 25.

During its theatrical run, “Frozen 2” became the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and we had the opportunity meet with creators, artists, and talent behind the movie, as well as preview some of the bonus features included on the in-home release. (Full list of features at the end of this article.)

Bonus Feature Screenings

Our day began with a light breakfast in the Caffeine Patch, the studios’ central gathering spot/coffee bar, which was decked out with “Frozen 2” concept art and photo ops. A small stage with a piano and pair of microphones was set up near the center of the space, so we anticipated there might be a surprise performance in store for us that day!

After breakfast we were ushered into a small screening room, where we were treated to a viewing of several of the bonus features on the in-home release, including some funny recording booth outtakes from Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), and Josh Gad (Olaf).

Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez, the Oscar-winning songwriters of “Frozen” and “Frozen 2,” were the stars of the next featurette and shared insight into their creative process. (One anecdote told by the couple revealed that the first draft lyrics of “When I Am Older” was written while Anderson-Lopez was ice skating!) Anyone wondering how songs are incorporated into the story—and vice versa—of a Disney animated film can find out more on the “Meet the Lopezes” digital exclusive.

We also watched a storyboarded version of one of the deleted songs from the film, “I Wanna Get This Right,” in which Kristoff attempts to propose to Anna. The song was ultimately cut because it didn’t fit into the final story, but this goofy gem of a musical number is just one example of some of the great material that sometimes ends up on the cutting room floor, but can thankfully be shared in bonus features.

Two deleted scenes—“Secret Room” and “A Place of Our Own”—also never found a place in the final film, but revealed more about Anna and Elsa’s parents, and even made some of us a bit misty-eyed.

These were just a sampling of the bonus features audiences can check out on the “Frozen 2” in-home release.

Fun Facts From the Cast of Disney*Pixar’s Coco!

Fun Facts From the Cast of Disney*Pixar’s Coco!

By Erin

*We were invited by Disney to attend this press conference for purposes of this post. All thoughts and opinions remain my own!*

Thanksgiving is just about here. It’s the perfect time for families everywhere to come together and celebrate everything there is to be thankful for. Pixar’s new movie Coco, couldn’t be coming out at a better time than at Thanksgiving as Coco showcases the importance of family, honoring your ancestors and following your dreams. Opening in theaters everywhere on Wednesday, November 22nd.

Coco is about a 12-year-old boy named Miguel with big dreams and a hardworking family with great traditions and a lot of love. What’s so cool is that this could be any family that lives next door. The sweet, bossy grandmother who insists on one more bite might be your grandma (she sure reminds me a lot of my own grandmother). There’s something familiar to us all in this story. The universal theme of family is what makes it so special, with relationships that are beautiful and complicated, but our family shapes who we are. Pixar Animation Studios’ 19th feature film introduces Miguel, an aspiring singer and self- taught guitarist who dreams of following in the footsteps of his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz, the most famous musician in the history of Mexico. But Miguel’s family forbids music.

The other week we were delighted to meet the cast at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The talent in attendance were:
  • Benjamin Bratt (voice of “Ernesto de la Cruz”)
  • Gael Garcia Bernal (voice of “Hector”)
  • Anthony Gonzalez (voice of “Miguel”)
  • Edward James Olmos (voice of “Chicharron”)
  • Alanna Ubach (voice of “Mama Imelda”)
  • Director Lee Unkrich
  • Co-Director Adrian Molina
  • Producer Darla K. Anderson

Right before the conference started, we were in for a very special treat: a performance by Mariachi Divas and some dancers.

Look how beautiful those dresses are. They put on a beautiful performance for all of us to enjoy.

During the press conference, here were some of the fun and interesting facts we all learned.

Lee Unkrich- “Darla, and Adrian, and I all worked on Toy Story III together. When we finished that film, I started to think about what was next, and I had a few different ideas that I was kicking around. One of them was the idea of telling a story set against Dia de los Muertos. I had always been interested in the tradition, and I spent some time doing some research, and really trying to understand more than I already knew. The more that I dug in, the more that I learned about how central family is to this celebration, and that Dia de los Muertos is all about this obligation that we all have to remember our loved ones, and to pass their stories along. I just really started to see the potential to tell a unique story, to tell a story that could only be told in animation, that could be visually dazzling, but also had the potential to have a real emotional core to it. That was really kind of the beginning of this journey. We immediately headed down to Mexico and started – went on the first of what proved to be many lengthy research trips, to spend time learning about the traditions, learning about the culture, and spending a lot of time with many beautiful families down in Mexico.”
