Unicorn Cupcakes
By Erin
Add a little “magic” to your everyday with some Unicorn Cupcakes! I think we could all use a little more magic these days, as well as some tasty treats. These magical unicorn cupcakes will do just that. Everything’s better with unicorns! They were surprisingly easy to make.
Unicorn Cupcake Instructions
Ingredients
Makes 24 cupcakes
1 box of vanilla cake mix
1 cup of water
3 large eggs
⅓ cup of vegetable oil
3 tubs of vanilla frosting
1M Wilton tip
1 Wilton disposable piping bag
Wilton Unicorn Cupcake Decoration Kit
Cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350 F
Grease sides and bottoms of each cup of your cupcake baking pan
Blend cake mix, oil, eggs and water in a large bowl (follow the instructions on your specific box of cake mix)
Pour batter in cupcake pan and bake for 18-21 minutes
Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting
Frosting
While cupcakes are cooling, cut the tip of the bag and the insert the 1M Wilton tip, then add the
frosting to fill the bag, leaving enough space at the top in order to twist the bag so frosting will not leak out.
Once cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with the vanilla frosting.
How to Make the Fondant Flowers
You will need 48 flowers total for 24 cupcakes
Knead the fondant until pliable
Lightly brush your bow mold with powder sugar
Make 16 pink flowers, 16 yellow flowers, 16 green flowers
Use a small ball of pastel fondant from each color and press into the flower mold
Remove from the flower mold and set aside.
How to Decorate the Cupcake
From the Wilton unicorn decorating set add the big horn to the center of the cupcake. Then add 1 ear to the left of the horn and another ear to the right of the horn.
Take 1 full flower and add it to the center of the horn. Cut 2 other flowers in half using different colors. Place one half of the cut flower to the left of the full flower and then place the 2nd half flower to the right of the full flower.
Take eyes from the decorating set and make sure they are both going the correct way, (see the package to check the position) add your unicorn eyes to the front of the cupcake.
Enjoy!
